Being an active traveler means I am constantly on the lookout for ways to stay fit and healthy on the road. Typically, I seek opportunities to merge fitness with exploring: hiking, kayaking, biking, even just walking. Singapore has many ways to get active outdoors, like running routes and bike tours, sometimes though, I crave an old-fashioned workout in a gym.

Training for an event, keeping up a workout routine, washing away the guilt of one too many drinks; finding a hotel gym is sometimes necessary, but not always easy. The hotels in Singapore are luxurious and exciting and cater to every kind of traveler, the fitness and health conscious included. The fitness centers at these Singapore hotels offer top quality amenities for keeping your fitness routine in tact while on the road.

Banyan Tree Fitness Center at Marina Bay Sands

The 55th floor of Marina Bay Sands Hotel, an ultra modern and luxurious resort, is home to the mecca of all fitness centers in Singapore. Guests of the hotel can work out for free on state of the art machines while gazing at the incredible city skyline. All treadmills, bikes and ellipticals have touch screen televisions, and docks for iPods. Stay zen with daily yoga in a studio with panoramic views of the city. The strength training room has free weights, machines and rowers, and the locker rooms include a sauna, steam room and hot tub.

Pan Pacific Fitness Center at the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel

The Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel is one of the World’s Best Business Hotels, and its leading fitness center makes working out here pleasant. The gym is not huge, but filled with top quality, well maintained, and clean equipment to keep most fitness buffs satisfied. The aerobic machines face toward a wall of windows that looks out on a peaceful deck adding to the excellent atmosphere.

There are group fitness classes three times a day during the week including yoga, Pilates, boot camp, and kettlebell workouts. If group classes aren’t your thing, trainers are available for one-on-one sessions, or have the staff suggest one of the pre-planned running routes around the city. The pool and steam room are two great places to relax after a hard workout at the Pan Pacific.

The Westin Workout Fitness Center at the Westin Singapore is an excellent option when looking for hotel with a quality gym. The whole idea behind the Westin Workout is that traveling and staying fit is easy and do-able with the right amenities.

The studio, on the 35th floor, is free for guests and open 24 hours a day. It is your basic, well maintained and well stocked gym, but what really adds to the experience is the extra length the Westin goes to keep guests happy. Free outdoor yoga at the infinity pool on weekends, group runs around Marina Bay every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and sneakers and clothes for rent. They have thought of everything!
