I have yet to travel to Thailand, but my current base in South Korea has made it easier to get to than my old stomping ground in Vermont. My news feed on Facebook is constantly flooded with photos of the sun setting over the Bangkok skyline, and seeing these images prompted me to do some research on where folks are snapping these images.
Turns out, Bangkok is famous for its huge number of rooftop bars! After much research, and polling of friends who have been to this Asian metropolis, I have put together a list of seven rooftop hotels in Bangkok. I can’t wait to get there and check them all out for myself!
Banyan Tree Hotel Bangkok
Pull up a chair and watch the sun set over Bangkok 61 floors above the city at the Banyan Tree Hotel’s Vertigo and Moon Bar. This rooftop bar and restaurant is popular with tourists, but emits a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.
Sofitel So Bangkok
Park Society, situated on the 29th floor of the Sofitel So Hotel, attracts a young crowd with its modern and clean design. With a direct view of Lumphini Park (one of the few green spaces in Bangkok) this rooftop bar/restaurant is a great place to come day or night.
Mode Sathorn Hotel
The completely open bar, Roof @ 38, at the Mode Sathorn Hotel is a wide open space with 360 degree views of the city. Sip your cocktail while watching the sunset and listen to the jams of house and guest DJ’s.
The Speakeasy Rooftop Bar at Hotel Muse takes up not one, but two floors, and offers guests creatively prepared Asian inspired food and drink. Sip your beverage in a few different nooks including the lawn, the long bar, the rooftop bar, the terrace bar, the cigar room, or in one of the three private rooms.
Right in the middle of Bangkok’s most visited tourist shopping district is the Centara Grand. Perched on the top of this popular hotel is one of the most visited rooftop bars in the city, the Red Sky Bar. Enjoy 360 degree views of Bangkok from 55 floors up (one of the taller ones in the city), and sip drinks in couches facing the sunset.
Millenium Hilton Bangkok
The 360 Rooftop Bar at the Millenium Hilton Bangkok is not the highest rooftop bar, but offers some of the best options in the city. There are two parts to the bar; an outdoor area with comfortable couches and a laid back atmosphere, and an indoor circular bar (hence the name) with panoramic windows watching over Bangkok.
Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit
On the 45th floor of the Marriott Hotel Sukhimvit you will find Octave Rooftop Lounge and Bar. Enjoy 360 degree views of Bangkok from the restaurant, the private dining room, or the bar and lounge, all nestled on the rooftop of this Bangkok Hotel.
